It’s not everday you come across Caribbean and southern food… in one place!
Their meals remind me of my families Thanksgiving meals. Growing up, you would find arroz con gandules, mac and cheese, pernil and other mixes of American food fused with Puerto Rican cuisine.
So when I visited Boricua Soul, even for the first time, it was nostalgic!
Boricua Soul started a Food truck in 2015 with some help from a Kickstarter campaign where over 100 people donated and helped kickstart their dream!
They fused together African American Soul food with Puerto Rican classics and put together Boricua Soul.
You will absolutely love the flavors of their food. It is unlike anything in the City!
Their menu consists of delicious empanadas filled with mojo chicken, beef, or greens, beans and cheese. They also have plantains as a side along with mac and cheese and collard greens as a side.
Arroz Con Gandules: Puerto Rican rice with pigeon peas.
Collard Greens
Tostones: Season Plantain chips with garlic, vinegar , and salt
Southern Mac and cheese
Choose one of two proteins for your bowl:
Pernil- Seasoned Pork Shoulder
Chicharones de pollo- fried chunks of chicken
Their menu and food truck locations can all be found on their website here. They also have a location in the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, NC. They have online ordering and delivery with UberEats. They have several seats on the covered patio and play live Jazz on certain days. The flavors of all their food are so delicious! We tried a little bit of everything offered and it did not disappoint! Promise, you’ve never tasted such a great combo of food before!
XOXO,
Cindy & Jeremy
